Talking To Kids About COVID 19
Educate yourself on the facts
Ask what they know and have heard
Focus on basic information
Limit unnecessary information which could be scary or overwhelming
Stay Calm and Confident
Listen to and address concerns
Continue to reassure them
After informing them, ask what they think about COVID 19
Confirm they understand and are mentally okay
Emphasize what they can do (ex. Washing hands)
Emphasize ways to keep life as normal as possible (ex. Schedules/routines)
Work to create a temporary normal as things change
Limit how often you talk about COVID 19 in front of them
